Polypharmacy & the Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide

Submissions into the Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide close the 13th of October! Can you please help us with a simple or detailed submission?

Do you believe the traditional DVA Approved mental health treatments are working for veterans with PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries and Chronic Pain? Is long term use of Opiates, SSRIs and Benzos leading to suicide and suicide behaviour by serving and ex-serving Defence members?

Are you seeing positive outcomes with new treatment and health options like medicinal cannabis? What have you seen working for serving or ex-serving Defence members?

Could education and support for endocannabinoid health already be helping reduce suicidal ideation, resolve addictions or ease trauma? With 85% of mental health related prescriptions prescribed by GPs, Should the RC encourage our Doctors start learning about Endocannabinoid health?

A recent detailed report into Mental health-related prescriptions from the Australian Institute of health and welfare shows in that in 2022, mental health related medications hit 44.4 million subscriptions, a record high. With 75% antidepressants and up to 4.7 million people now taking them, including children, what are the long term effects of chronic use?

You can contribute to the RC in many forms. Submission can be a  private phone call with a supportive legal team, email with your story, video or written statement or a detailed submission with evidence submitted to the proceedings. More info below.
